REPLAY is the video capture and distribution system for MIT CSAIL. Events that occur in the Kiva and Star conference rooms can be recorded via REPLAY, and the resulting video plus several other transcoded versions (for compatibility with most browsers, as well as an HD and SD version of the two popular formats)
The capture system is based on a custom Ruby on Rails web application and a hardware stack, including an HD camera, a video mux/scaler, and an encoding appliance.
Transcoded video is stored in an Amazon S3 storage bucket.
In order to schedule a recording, you must first be authorized by HQ and TIG to initiate recording. In addition, any video/audio recording requires a speaker recording consent form to be signed by the speaker(s). Videos without a signed consent form will not be available for viewing.
